I Don’t Care About Your Flaws, I Care About Your Heart
I don’t care about your flaws or your fears. I don’t care about your baggage or your biggest insecurities. I don’t care whether you have your whole life figured out or whether you are still trying to come up with a plan. The only thing that matters to me is your heart.
I care about the way you treat people. I care about the way you react when you see someone hurt, when you see someone in need. I care about whether you celebrate alongside your friends and whether you encourage them to reach their fullest potential. I care about whether you have a soft heart, a sensitive heart. I care about whether you’re a good person or only pretending when other people are looking your way.
I don’t care if you’re perfect. I don’t care if you’re a work in progress. I don’t care if you are struggling to figure out where you belong. But I care about the way you’re going to behave around me and the people who matter the most to me. I care about how gently you are going to treat me in my lightest and darkest moments. I care about whether you are going to listen to me, whether you’re going to try your hardest to understand the words I speak. I care about whether you are going to make me a priority. I care about whether you are going to care.
I don’t need someone who is immune to making mistakes. I don’t need someone who has never screwed up in their life. Perfection is only a myth, which is why I’m simply searching for someone who takes responsibility for their actions. Someone who sets things right when they hurt someone they care about. Someone who feels absolutely horrible when they make someone else feel horrible. Someone who recognizes their mistakes and actively finds a way to fix them.
I don’t need someone who has already learned everything there is to learn. I don’t need someone who has discovered exactly who they are and what they want from this world. All I need someone who is dedicated to doing good, someone who has their heart set on becoming the best possible version of themselves.
I can’t settle for someone who puts themselves first in every single situation, someone who is afraid of feeling for others, someone who hides away their emotions in order to appear ‘strong’. I need someone who isn’t afraid of expressing their vulnerability. Someone who will tell me what has been running through their head without any resistance. Someone who understands the importance of sharing their emotions instead of stuffing everything into their chests.
I need someone who is open and honest. I need someone who understands love is not a curse. It’s a blessing. It’s a beautiful thing.
Whether I’m looking for a new friendship or a new relationship, I don’t care about your imperfections. I don’t care about your insecurities. All I care about is the shape and size of your heart.
