Police Shatter Expectations By Transforming THESE Rescues Into Detective K9s

Poor Pit Bulls.
Viewed by many as aggressive and dangerous, sheltered pups of this breed often go un-adopted.
That is, until now…
Police departments all over the U.S. are welcoming unexpected new K9s onto their forces.

They’re training Pit Bull rescues to be detectives.

And these Pit Bulls are totally crushing it!
From New York to Austin, Pit Bulls are proving themselves as fantastically capable police and military K9s.

In fact, “the hardest thing for them to teach them, Police Dept. trainers say is to get them to be aggressive towards people,” Protect Pit Bulls from BSL (breed-specific legislation) on Facebook.
Animal Farm Foundation is one of the leading organizations gifting countless Pit Bulls these new opportunities to serve their communities.

“Potential detection dog candidates are selected from the Austin Pets Alive! shelter system to participate in training led by Universal K9, located in San Antonio, Texas,” Animal Farm Foundation explained.
“Once there, Brad Croft founder of Universal K9, trains and places the dogs in police departments around the country at no charge.”
In training, these rescues learn how to detect narcotics, arson, explosives, and more, just like any other police K9.

As Croft put it, “Any dog that has the drive, confidence, and desire to work can do it! Breed does not dictate a dogs ability to work.”
